Difference between loudness and intensity of sound:

The difference between loudness and intensity of sound is given in table below

1 It is the amount of sensation produced in the ear and hence it depends upon the listener. It is the quantity of sound energy flowing across unit area per second. Hence it depends on the source of sound and does not depend upon the listener.
2 It is not a purely physical quantity but it subjective in nature. It is a pure physical quantity.
3 Loudness is measured in sones. Intensity is measured in Wm-2.
